Atomic Roar Godzilla

The year? 2014. The movie? Godzilla. The excitement levels? Very, very high.

Godzilla fans everywhere were excited to see their favorite kaiju return to the big screen. The last Japanese-made Godzilla movie was Godzilla Final Wars in 2004 and the last American-made Godzilla movie was TriStar's 1998 Godzilla.

Godzilla fans were not only excited for the movie, however. With a new Big-G movie, it meant that new toys would be hitting the shelves of toy stores everywhere.

As a collector and fan, it was a wonderful time to be alive. Finally! For the first time in years we could go to a store and buy a collectible physically without having to buy an imported piece online.

Of all the figures that came out during that time, the Bandai - Atomic Roar Godzilla is one of my favorites. Standing at 10-inches tall, this figure is a great detailed figure for any collector's collection.

The main attraction of this figure is when you bend him at his legs, a blue beam of atomic breath shoots out of his mouth via a spring-loaded mechanism and is accompanied by his roar from the Godzilla 2014 movie from strategically placed speakers.

Another really cool feature is that the blue beam is lit up by an LED light in time with his roar.

Between his 10-inch size, the spring loaded beam, and the 2014 roar, this figure feels bulky. In a good way.

In the collector world, there are a lot more 6-inch (approximation) figures than there are 10-inch or larger figures. The 6-inch figures are great in many ways. But sometimes you want a Godzilla toy to feel colossal just like the movie counterpart.

Bandai accomplished giving us that feeling with this figure. Godzilla with his atomic blast feels like a force to be reckoned with. His authentic movie roar makes it feel like Godzilla has been shrunken down and put right on your shelf with the rest of your collection.

If you ever have a chance, we here at Tokusatsu Collect highly recommend that you pick this figure up and add it to your collection!
